The Master's Degree in Geomatics, based at the Center for Geotechnologies (CGT) of the University of Siena, aims to train an expert with a professional profile linked to the development of recent geo-informatics technologies. This expert will be capable of performing tasks related to the acquisition, management, analysis, monitoring, updating, and dissemination of territorial data.
The disciplines used for this purpose are related to the following fields: geodesy, topographical surveying, cartography, spatial databases, geographic information systems, spatial analysis and geoprocessing in a 2D and 3D geo-referenced environment, geostatistics, remote sensing, aerial and terrestrial digital photogrammetry, and drone-based laser scanning, terrestrial laser scanning, 3D data editing, web cartography, and Building Information Modeling (BIM), with the goal of integrating territorial data with data from the buildings on it.
Thanks to the integration of data acquisition and management systems, geographic information systems, and numerical cartography, the Geomatics expert can find opportunities in agriculture, forestry, geological sciences, topography, archaeology, agronomy, and architecture and, in general, in land and environmental management.
