Professor of Paleontology and Researcher since 2005. Graduated from the University of Pisa, he obtained his PhD from the University of Parma. President of the Museum System of the University of Siena and Director of the Museum of Geological and Archaeological Sciences of Pianosa. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and, since 2024, of the Eurispes Observatory on Insularity. He has participated in national and international projects on the reconstruction of depositional environments, paleogeography, and the evolution of the Mediterranean and oceanic areas, studying climatic, paleoceanographic, and ecological variations through the analysis of marine microorganism assemblages in both modern and fossil contexts.
