Ecotoxicology in Polar Regions: study of sources, flows, distribution and fate of anthropogenic chemicals under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in marine and coastal ecosystems, mainly in Polar Regions. The study of protected species or living in protected areas is supported using non-destructive/non-lethal sampling methods. Projects are mainly carried out within the National Program of Research in Antarctica (PNRA) and international contexts (e.g. TUNU Programme: Arctic Ocean Fishes–Diversity, Adaptation and Conservation'' UiT The Arctic University of Norway).
1. Transfer of inorganic and organic contaminants between ecosystem compartments
2. Role of climate change on the distribution and bioaccumulation of contaminants in Polar Regions
3. Role of climate change in POP temporal trends in the Arctic and Antarctica
4. International approach to study persistent inorganic/organic pollutants in Antarctica under a changing climate
5. Role of climate-driven ecological changes in bioaccumulation of contaminants
